Diabetes Discussion

Diabetes has a variety of effects on the course of upper extremity problems. In addition to contributing to peripheral neuropathy, diabetes increases the likelihood that stiffness of the fingers will develop during the course of treatment of any hand problem. Diabetes increases the chance that infection or wound healing problems will complicate the course of treatment. Hand problems relating to diabetes occur in both insulin and non insulin dependent diabetes.
